Welcome to SAU 67 New To District Website

This website is intended for those new to SAU 67.  You will find links to our five year strategic plan, our work over the past years and guiding documents that we use and refer to in our collective work.  While each building has individual initiatives this page focuses on the initiatives and work of the district.

Strategic Plan:  Our five year strategic plan was designed in three parts.  First it makes the case for change, then it provides an assessment of where we were when the plan was put in place.  The final part of the strategic plan outlines the work we have ahead of us in this five year period.  The plan was completed in the fall of 2016 and has a goal for completion of spring 2021.

You can access our strategic plan here:  SAU 67 Strategic Plan 2016-2021

Competency Development: All school districts in New Hampshire have been involved in the process of developing competencies.  Each school district approaches the task of implementing competency based education to meet the needs of their students.  Our school district started this process in 2007, with our high school.  Starting in 2014 all grades started the process of moving to a competency based education.  Knowing that new teachers would need a back story on our competency development process we created "bread crumbs."  We captured our process in the form of short videos that when watched in order tell the story.  Or they provide guidance on specific topics when needed.  These videos also highlight and include PDF copies of district documents.  For example a teacher wanting to write a competency can quickly select the "nuts and bolts" video with PDF to get started.

These "bread crumbs," can be found on the following Web Page: Competencies

Performance Tasks: In SAU 67 we use the term competency to be inclusive of a competency statement, a rubric and a performance task.  These three items make up a competency.  In order to help us have a clear understanding of PERFORMANCE TASK we have created a resource using LibGuides.  This resource offers a 13 minute training video to help the viewer understand the four types of performance tasks and how to determine which one is the right one to use as your assessment tool.  Depending upon the curriculum you teach and in which building you teach you may have students for a full year of learning or you may have them for 22 days.  With that in mind a "one size fits all," type of approach to performance tasks is not practical.  This video addresses those differences.  This site also provides examples of performance tasks.

Performance Task Tutorial and resources can be found here:  Performance Tasks LibGuide

Rubrics:  Rubrics are key at identifying what we want our students to know, understand and be able to do.  We have spent a lot of time creating a common understanding of what it means to be competent and how to reflect that in our rubrics.  In this tutorial you watch the art of writing rubrics evolve over time.  The use of the term rubric and what constitutes a rubric is so broad that almost anything can have the moniker "rubric," attached.  We intend to define rubrics to be in line with our understanding of what it means to be competent.  This LibGuide will provide you with a 10 minute overview of what SAU 67 looks for in a rubric.  The guide provides a Rubric generator to get you started and it provides a resource to examples.  We have also created a document we call the "Mother of All Rubrics," to help us convey what learning looks like at different levels on the journey to becoming competent.

Rubrics resource can be found here: Rubrics

Mother of all rubrics document can be found here: Complexity of Thought Rubric

Transforming Education with the help of Technology: 21st century learning has technology embedded in it.  Here you will find the questions we use to vet our curriculum and how we view the role of technology in learning.  We present a "mental," image of what classrooms transformed by technology look like and finally we provide research to back up the claim that technology enhances learning.
