1:1 Initiative

This page will become a depository for presentations that are being used to facilitate our 1:1 initiative.  The first PowerPoint, titled Transformaing Learning with Technology (Part 1&2), provides an overview of how we think about the role of technology in transforming learning.  Currently the district is training teachers to insure an informed and well planned implementation.  Behind the scenes our faculty are researching and piloting technology to be used with our students.  We vet digital resources by viewing them through the following lenses or questions:

  1. Does the resource help to personalize the learning experience?

  2. Does the resource provide learning mobility (24/7)?

  3. Does the resource provide dynamic content?

  4. Does the resource provide curriculum that is maleable?

  5. Does the resource provide inherent motivational features for teachers?

  6. Does the resource provide feedback on success that is based on mastery (and not seat time)?

Transforming learning with technology
(Part 1)

This portion of the presentation helps us to explore the "mental image," of what a classroom transformed by technology looks like.  It provides us with a comparison of paradigms, learning that is not impacted by technology and learning that is impacted by technology.  The presentation ends presenting the SAMR model.  The SAMR model helps us to understand the process that classrooms go through as they move from a classroom where technology has little impact on learning to a classroom where learning is enriched and made better through technology. (Presntation given at Faculty 1:1 training sessions summer 2015)

Transforming learning with technology
(Part 2)

This portion of the presentation focuses on research conducted by Nicholas Negroponte in two remote villages in Ethiopia.  Negroponte’s research provides us with evidence of the impact that technology can have on teaching and learning.  His research also helps us to understand the importance of coming together to learn, in schools and classrooms.  (Presntation given at Faculty 1:1 training sessions summer 2015)
